Check shoot stage

Start with healthy material
Use healthy shoots from the cultivar you intend to propagate. Do not treat a fruit photo or an uncertain tree label as proof of cultivar identity.
Match the method and conditions
Veneer grafting, cleft grafting and chip budding are common successful methods in Florida. Suitable rootstocks and warm growing conditions also matter.
Timing is not a universal calendar
UF/IFAS says mango grafting can be done whenever suitable rootstocks are available, but success is generally better in warm weather. Climate and active growth matter more than copying a date from another region.
